Student Council

The roles and responsibilities of our Student Council include promoting student participation, setting an example of good behavior, and encouraging the use of the French language.

The LaVérendrye Student Council was first organized in 1986 under the direction of then principal M. Aurel Richard and has since been continued by M. Jerry Lemay. This year, our new Grade 4/5 teacher, Mme Stéphanie Paquette will also work with the Council.

The Council has proven very successful over the years discussing various ideas, concerns, and questions that have affected our school. They have also been instrumental in organizing student activities, including clubs, spirit week activities, and our yearly Halloween Dance for the elementary students.

We have had many occasions to be very proud of the work of our council and the general student population. For quite a number of years, they have organized a fund raiser for The Children’s Hospital Miracle Bear Campaign, and last year they held a food drive for Harvest.

Thank-you very much to all our students, past and present, and keep up the good work.

 M. J. Lemay
