WELCOME TO OUR SCHOOL!

We are an Elementary School (Nursery to Grade 6) of approximately 260 students in the Winnipeg School Division.

Our children, parents/guardians, volunteers, staff, and local businesses form a strong community of learners and educators. Working together, we use a wide variety of teaching strategies and resources to help our children master the provincially mandated curricula, acquire life-long learning skills, and develop their skills to work and play independently, competitively and /or cooperatively.

Learning is not restricted to just the children. Supported by the school division and the provincial education department, our staff continues to learn about new curricula, current research about how children learn, effective teaching and assessment strategies and behaviour management techniques.

Volunteers are welcome and receive training from the division's coordinators.

Parent council operates a daily lunch program for students, monthly meetings and a parent resource library.

For more information  please contact the school.

Principal's Message

At Kent Road, we strive to help each child to be the best they can be.

Our priorities are:

  • Improve students' environment

  • Create a safe school environment

  • Generate a feeling of belonging among Aboriginal students

  • Strengthen links among school, parents and community.

In June, 2006 our school was awarded the TOBA Award and the Gold Award from the Canadian Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance in recognition for our quality physical education program.

In September, 2006 we introduced Character Education, a program that stresses social responsibility.  Students pair with their Lions-Quest buddies to participate in a series of monthly activities.  Seven topics or virtues have been selected which combine with the seven Aboriginal teachings.

In November, our brand new play structure became a reality.  To our parents, students and staff, thank you for your commitment to a project that will enrich our school community.
