Minutes of the meeting on June 5, 2008

Presentation
Lea Wilmott, Chair of Safe grad 2008, provided an update of preparations.
1. Approval of Agenda
The meeting was called to order by Cathy Purchase. The agenda was accepted by consensus.
2. Approval of Minutes, Meeting May 7, 2008
The minutes were accepted by consensus.
3. Student Report
The Student Council finished off the year with a School BBQ on June 2, 2008. The Executive for 2008-2009 will be Jessica Truong, President and Moses Jerao, Vice-President.
4. Administration Report
The latest draft of the 2008-2009 School Calendar was circulated. The first PAC Meeting is scheduled for October 2, 2008. PAC Meetings have been scheduled for: November 20 and December 3, 2008 and January 13, February 4, March 5, April 23, May 6 and June 4, 2009.
Administration is now working on the School Plan for 2008-20-09 based on Provincial, Division and District guidelines. Approximately 97% of timetables for 2008-2009 have been completed.
The 100th Anniversary Celebration is planned for the last weekend in May, 2012. Jim Pappas is Chair of the 100th Anniversary Committee.
Jim Heath, of the PS Finance Board, is willing to do a presentation on criteria and guidelines. Milli Khan will arrange for a presentation and publicize the event to encourage a large parent attendance.
The Canteen Renovation Proposal was denied due to the cost, approximately $40,000, for a necessary electrical upgrade. The request for individual sandwich preparation will be pursued further.
5. Committee Reports
South District Advisory Committee
The next meeting is scheduled for October 22, 2008 at Grant Park High School.
French Immersion Advisory Committee
Meetings for the 2008-2009 year have not yet been scheduled.
Financial Report
The current balance is $478.94.
6. Old Business
An article on Physical and Health Education for Grades 11 and 12 appeared in the May/June Newsletter.
7. New Business
Parent Council will be represented at the Grade 9 Meet the Teacher Event on September 18, 2008. The Parent Council pamphlet, prepared by Andrea Firth, will be available for that event. Information will be forwarded to all students late August
