W.H.S.F.L. Annual Awards

Harry Hood Memorial Trophy

This trophy is awarded annually to the high school football player who exemplifies the standard in playing ability, school citizenship, fair play and scholastic standing.
The selection of the award winner is made by the special committee.
A scholarship of approximately $500.00 will be awarded to the trophy recipient upon registration at an educational institution of their choice next fall.

Kas Vidruk Lineman Trophy

This trophy is awarded annually to a WHSFL player who typically plays the "down lineman" position.  The Kas Vidruk award winner displays a high standard in playing ability, school citizenship, fair play and scholastic standing.
The selection of the award winner is made by the WHSFL coaches. A plaque will be awarded to the winner and a perpetual trophy will be presented to the player's school to be kept for a one year period.

Robert Whitlaw  Memorial Award -

This award is presented annually to a rookie (S1 or S2) high school football player who displays the characteristics of Bob Whitlaw. Criteria will include excellence on the field, in the classroom and the community.  The selection of the award winner is made by the WHSFL coaches.

Jim Foubister Award

This award will be presented annually to a high school football player who displays the following: excellence on the field, sportsmanship, teamwork and overall good person. The selection of the award winner is determined by the officials of the league.

              John Potter/Darcy Bain Sports Physiotherapy Award

This award will be presented annually to an S4 graduating high school football player who plans to continue their football career. The selection will be based on the development and progress made by a player during their high school playing career.
The selection of the award winner is made by a special committee. A bursary will be awarded to the player at the time of registration for further education and participation in a higher level football program.

A.N.A.V.E.T. Offensive/Defensive Player of the Year

This award is presented to the offensive and defensive player of the year.  The winner is chosen by the coaches in the league and is awarded to the player who performed as the most dominant player in the league.
