Counselling Services:
School Counsellors are available to meet with students and/or parents to provide assistance of a general or personal nature to all students. Services are provided in a wide variety of areas such as course selection, career development, planning of post-secondary education, personal relationships and many other issues that affect the student's psychological, emotional, social, physical, mental and academic well being.
Counsellors also function in consultative capacity to students, parents and teachers. When special services are required, referrals are made to outside agencies.
Students can be assured that personal concerns will be discussed in a caring, confidential atmosphere. Parents with concerns are invited to contact the counsellors with concern.
To provide consistency and follow through, students will have the same counsellor from Grade 9 through Grade 12. The name of a student's counsellor will be listed on their timetable.
Parents and students are invited to make an appointment by contacting our secretary, Sharon Lynn, at 474-1156 or by stopping by the Guidance Office.
Child Guidance Clinic
Child Guidance Clinic services are provided by a social worker, a psychologist, and a reading clinician. Psychiatry, audiology, and speech therapy services are available through referral. Parents have access to these services by contacting the administration or counsellors at Kelvin.
