Pre-Calculus Math 30S (PCMR3S) /

Mathématics 30F du pré-calcul (PCMF3S)

This program emphasizes mathematical reasoning, mental mathematics and estimation,
problem solving, connections, communication and visualization. Problems are used to introduce
new ideas, to develop understanding of concepts and apply skills and processes previously
learned. Pre-Calculus Mathematics is designed for students who intend to study calculus and
related mathematics as part of their post-secondary education. The course comprises, primarily, a
high-level study of theoretical mathematics with an emphasis on problem solving, mental
mathematics, as well as cumulative exercises and testing. Some of the questions and problems
will be different from those presented in class. Students are expected to do regular homework.
Topics include quadratic functions, trigonometry, algebra, analytic geometry, geometry,
consumer mathematics, logic/proof and functions.
