Mathematics 20S is designed for students with good mathematical ability who intend to
pursue careers in Mathematics, Science, Engineering, Architecture, or the technologies. The
emphasis is on problem solving and independent thinking. It is a challenging course which
involves polynomials and factoring, analytic geometry, trigonometry, exponents and radicals,
geometry, rational expressions, functions, probability, variation and sequence. This course may
be taken concurrently with Applied Math 20S. Students are expected to do regular homework.
