Mathématiques S1

General information: This course extends over four terms and is a pre-requisite for mathématiques pré-calcul, mathématiques du consommateur or applied mathematics at the senior 2 level.

 Topics: The following topics are covered in this course:

polynomials                  statistics                        powers and exponents

linear equations spatial geometry            transformational geometry

word problems measurement                trigonometry

probability                    factoring                       similarity and congruence

Evaluation: The four terms carry a combined weight of 70% and the final exam has a weight of 30%. A mid-term exam is written at the end of first semester and is included in term II. Each term has a combined mark set based on daily calcul rapide, assignments, topic applications (35%) and unit tests (65%).      

Materials: A binder that can be divided into sections helps the student keep track of his progress in an organized fashion. A scientific calculator is required for certain topics in this course.
