Mathématiques du Consommateur 20S

 

General information

 

This is the first of three courses in the consumer mathematics stream. It is a pre-requisite to the senior 3 course. This course is designed to show students how mathematics is used in everyday life. A field trip to a bank or a credit union is usually arranged. The students will also begin to build a portfolio of their work including a résumé in French and English and initial exposure to career exploration.

Evaluation

 

Each of the two terms carry a weight of 35% and the final exam has a weight of 30%. Day to day work, quizzes and calcul rapide make up 30% of the term mark and tests and projects account for 70%.

 

Materials

 

The students have a textbook with examples, illustrations and solutions to exercises. A scientific calculator and a ruler for imperial and metric measure are required for certain topics.
