Senior 3

Applied Math 30S (APMR3S)

This course extends what was developed in the 20S Consumer course. Topics include
problem analysis, analysis of mathematics, geometry, income and debt, and statistics, spatial
geometry, operating a vehicle, personal income tax, and probability.

The graphing calculator and spreadsheet are the primary technological tools used by students
for mathematical exploration, modeling, and problem solving. The use of spreadsheets, with
functions defined by the student, is expected in all contexts. Technology is an integral part of
teaching and assessment in Applied Mathematics. Topics include personal finance, technical
communication, budget, time purchase and investment, geometry of the circle, calculus concepts,
data management and analysis, graphing and systems of linear equations, precision measurement,
linear programming, and non-linear functions.
