French Immersion at the Secondary Level :
a continuing challenge.
This program of studies is for students who wish to develop further the bilingual abilities achieved through the Junior High experience.
What students need to know:
Students need 14 credits in order to receive the Provincial French Immersion Diploma.
Students can complete up to 70% of their Secondary Program in French.
Students must commit themselves to the exclusive use of French in all Immersion classes.
Students participate in a cultural activities program. These activities are an extension of the français courses allowing students to develop an awareness and appreciation of the culture of French-speaking people and providing opportunities for students to enrich their linguistic skills in a non-academic context.
For each Immersion course, 10% of the grade will be attributed to the student’s effort to speak French in class.
A number of compulsory Immersion courses as well as other compulsory courses are needed in order to graduate.
