COURSE OBJECTIVES:
· Comprehension : in exposing students to a variety of texts both literary and transactional in nature, bring them to a more sophisticated level of understanding
· Production : in having students produce a variety of texts, bring them to a more mature level of writing
COURSE CONTENT:· Argumentative texts : specifically editorials and formal letters · Reportages · Analytical texts · French cinema · Literature: Camus, Ionesco, literature from the Francophonie (as time permits) · Discussion classes – informal and formal · Presentations/speeches |
PROVINCIAL EXAM: In the 40S course, there is a provincial standards test administered near the end of the course. The students receive a booklet of readings the week before the administration of the test which must be read before the start of the test. The test itself is given over a number of days: one day for the listening test, one day for reading comprehension and one day for written production.
