ACCEPTABLE USE POLICY
for STUDENTS IN
KELVIN HIGH SCHOOL’S NETWORKING PROGRAM

 

Since the Networking Courses teach the design and deployment of networks, the students from time to time will be working on the school’s network.  This means they will have access to confidential information in regards to the school’s network and design.  The students will also be using computers in the delivery of the networking curriculum.  The rules and responsibilities are outlined below:

 

*   Ethics and responsibility

¨       No tampering with files or settings on any computers in the building.

¨       No attempting to circumvent security systems.

¨       No sharing of passwords or tampering with other users’ passwords.

¨       No copying or distributing licensed and copyrighted school software, files or electronic information, including information posted on the school’s website.

¨       No installation or running of unapproved/inappropriate software (e.g., remote or downloaded games, plug-ins, instant-messenger products, ad bars, etc.).

¨       No tampering with hardware.

¨       No unauthorized Internet searching.

¨       Responsibility for making up missed work is yours.

§         Marks will be deducted for unexcused late work.

§         Please notify your instructor in advance if you will be absent from class for an appointment or a school-sponsored activity.

§         A note from your parents is required in order to make up missed tests/in-class assignments.

 

*  Respect -

¨       For other students and their right to learn.

¨       For your work environment and the tools and equipment used therein. 

                       
* Lab environment

¨       No food or drink.

¨       Clean up after every class.

§         Return tools and equipment to their proper storage areas.

¨       Leave your workspace tidy so that it is ready for the next user.

 

 

Abuse in the use of equipment and software or disclosure of confidential network information will result in immediate disciplinary consequences.  Severe infractions will be dealt with by the Administration.
