Homework
Homework is viewed as an integral part of the lifelong learning process. Agenda planners are available for purchase from the school for grades 3 to 6 students. Homework is to be recorded in the student's agenda planner. It provides self-discipline, organizational and responsibility-building skills for the students. It also helps them develop a sense of time management, while providing parents / guardians the opportunity to be involved with their child's education.

Lockers and Locks
All Grade 1- 6 students will be using lockers situated in the hallways. Nursery and Kindergarten students have lockers located in their own classrooms. Students in grades 1, 2 and 3 will not be using locks. Students in grades 4, 5 and 6 may bring combination or keyed locks for their locker. The teacher must, however, be given the combination lock number or an extra key for the lock. For those students sharing a locker the two students can make the decision on who brings the lock to school.

Valuables
Students are asked not to bring valuables to school. Toys should be kept at home as well. Students bringing valuables or toys to school do so at their own risk.

Fire Drills
Ten fire drills will be held during the school year. Students will be trained in exit procedures and routes from each classroom in which they attend classes. Students are to move quickly, quietly and in an orderly fashion to exit the building.

Sports
Each year students from Grades 4 - 6, have the opportunity to take part in a variety of sports activities, including intramural and interschool sports events. Most sports activities are scheduled during lunch hours. Notification will go home in the newsletters regarding these activities and their times.

Choir
Participation in the Grades 1 - 3 or the Grades 4 - 6 choir is optional for all students in those grades for 1/2 hour per school cycle. The students participate in concerts / musicals, assemblies and occasionally in the community.

Patrols
We are extremely proud of our school patrols. School patrols are on duty in the morning at 8:35 - 8:50 , before lunch at 11:50 - 12:05, after lunch at 12:40 - 12:55 and after school at 3:25 - 3:40. Please ensure your child crosses with the patrols between these hours and that your child respects their guidance.

Student Leadership Training and Opportunities
The older students in our school have opportunities to actively participate in a variety of roles where leadership skills are trained and encouraged. These include Patrols, Lunch Time Telephone Monitors and Conflict Managers ( who help resolve recess / lunch problems with younger students ). There are also opportunities for leadership students to work with younger students on basic motor skills and to referee intramural sports.
