Inkster School Lunch Program

October 2007

The fall is flying past us!  We blinked and September was gone!  October looks to be shaping up to be a great month.

We want to thank all of the families who are using the brown family envelopes that we sent home a few weeks ago.   We see this as a great way to send fees and correspondence back and forth.  If you have any questions about how the

envelopes are supposed to work, please call us or come see us.  Statements for September will be out the first week of October.  Please pay any outstanding amounts promptly to ensure your child’s spot in the Lunch program.

We are working at trying to place more of the children on the waiting list.  The list is starting to drop.  We will call you as soon as we have an opening for your child/children.  We are doing the best we can to help all of the families who need spaces.

Our first internal “hot lunch” was a big hit.  The children always seem to enjoy it when we have something different.  Sometime in October, (date TBA), we will try something new.  We are going to have a chicken nugget and perogy lunch.  This is not Mcdonald’s, but chicken that we will prepare in the oven and serve with perogies.

We are still looking for a few good people who want to join our Lunch Program as employees.  The staff work about 70 to 80 minutes a day over the noon hour.  It is hectic, but one of the most rewarding things I know of.  If you are

interested, please come and visit us or call us at 586-6719.  We would love to hear from you.

Time for the usual reminders:

1.           Heat up lunches are only allowed on the school day that is the same as your child’s grade.

Grade 1—Day 1, etc.  Most other times we cannot accommodate extra heat-ups.

2.        Emergency Lunches are just that—for emergencies only.  We are not a canteen and cannot continually supply        lunches.

3.        Clothing must be appropriate for the weather outside.  The children must go outside every day.  Many of them        come without the outerwear that they need to go outside.  Please ensure that your child has outdoor clothing—       boots, hats, mitts, scarves.  Remember, our school is affiliated with Koats for Kids and does have them

             available if you need them.

That’s about it from the lunch rooms!

             Have a great Thanksgiving!

NOT to be brought to school or used at school.  Thanks for your cooperation.

Cold and flu season are quickly approaching.  In order for Inkster School to remain a healthy and exciting place to learn, it is important that children stay home when they are sick.  This will help to avoid spreading these highly contagious viruses.  Your cooperation and understanding is appreciated.

A reminder to all parents that playground supervision takes place at entrance times at 8:40 am and 12:45 pm when the patrols are also on duty.  Please do not send your child to school before those times as there will not be any supervision at the patrol corners or on the playground.  Again, safety is of the utmost importance.  Thanks for your support!

Our annual Halloween Dance will take place on October 26th in the gym.  It is always a fun time for all!  Dress up in your favorite costume and come on down!  We hope to see you there!

Wishing you a great month of October!
