Text Box: The month of February has passed and so hopefully has the frigid weather. A great big THANK-YOU to our I Love to Read Committee who planned an exciting month of literacy activities and to our Family Learning Olympic committee who planned a fabulous evening of literacy and numeracy activities! What an exciting month this has been! Thanks to all of our Guest Readers who visited the classrooms to read their favorite books. It was nice to see some parents reading to children in the
classrooms! It is always important for our children to see how others value reading in their daily lives. Let’s make that commitment to reading a daily adventure!

The Intermediate and Honor Choirs went to the Music Festival on February 26th. They did a beautiful job! Congratulations to everyone for your hard work and commitment to music and to Mrs. Peters for her commitment to our school music
program! They continue to amaze us!!!

The deadline for science fair projects from our grades 4 – 6 students is March 3rd.  Rubrics have been sent home with interested students to help guide them through the process. Teachers are also available to assist any students requiring guidance or tips for completing their competitive projects. The science fair projects will be judged here at Inkster School in order to determine which projects will go
forward to the WSD Science Fair at Tec Voc.

The month of March is a busy time! Our next Family Groupings day will take place on Mach 20th when we will work together with our groups and learn to play traditional Aboriginal games. Spirit Week will take place from March 24th – 28th, with many fun and exciting ways to show our love for Inkster School! Mrs. Peters is also organizing our annual Talent Show which will be held on March 28th. We look forward to seeing a fabulous array of talent from our students at Inkster School!

Report cards will go home with all students on March 27th. As in the past, along with the WSD checklist, each student will receive a Program Summary that highlights what has been covered in each subject area in the past term and an anecdotal page that will highlight the following important information:
Teamwork / Personal Skills – indicating students’ success and / or needs
Current Academic Performance in Language Arts, Mathematics and other subject areas – indicating students’ strengths and needs in these areas
Next Steps for Programming – indicating what students need to do next, at home and school, for further success
We hope that you will find these reports informative and helpful in determining your child’s progress.

CHILDREN COME FIRST!
THEY ARE OUR MOST VALUABLE RESOURCE!
