Notice of Upcoming Activities Spring 2008
Parenting the Child with ADHD
This seven week course (one evening a week) is designed for parents of children aged 5-11 diagnosed with ADD/ADHD. The chief objectives are to:
a) increase parent knowledge and understanding of ADD/ADHD and how this disorder interacts with the child’s environments and, b) make parents aware of management practices that can be applied to make life more manageable for the family and the child. c) allows parents of children with ADHD to network with others in the same circumstances while engaging in group problem solving that is overseen by a facilitator.
Classes run every Tuesday evening 7-9 p.m. from Feb. 12th to Mar. 25th at Herzing College, 723 Portage Ave. To register call 774-1832 ext. 11.
Cost: Non-members $65, Members $55
Learning Disabilities Basics
Taught over two evenings this course will explain the types of Learning Disabilities, characteristics, and the underlying processes impacted. Part II will cover the value of assessment, specific teaching strategies and case studies.
This class will run Monday evenings, 6:30-8:30 p.m. on March 17th and March 24th at Herzing College, 723 Portage Ave. To register call 774-1832 ext. 11.

Destination Learning Child Tutoring Program
The Learning Disabilities Association of Manitoba’s Children’s Program is looking for students! Our literacy tutoring program focuses on helping children who struggle academically as a result of ADD/HD or Learning Disabilities gain the skills and confidence to succeed.
Program Description: Provides individualized literacy support to children aged 6-11 years old, through one-to-one tutoring. Your child will be paired with a volunteer tutor, and together they will work on individualized lesson plans for one hour, twice a week over 9 weeks.

Cost: $60 for all nine weeks. Spring session beings on April 29th and May 1st.
