Primary News
The Primary Team is happy to announce that Inkster School has begun a new way to bring a sense of community to everyone. We have put all of the students and adults in the school into ‘family groupings’. These groups have their own name based on animals found in Manitoba from the Ojibway clan system. The family groups are made up of children in grades one through six and will meet once a month. The groups provide each child with a greater sense of belonging and a way to make friends across the grades.
The first family group meeting took place on January 25th and everyone met their group members and made a banner for their animal. Everyone had an awesome time meeting new people and helping each other. The next meeting will center around the Aboriginal Winter Games outside.
Happy February!
Sincerely, The Primary Team Ms. Ambaram, Mrs. Wuersch-Gowryluk, Mrs. Idone, Mr. Preyma, Ms. Robson, Ms. Cabral and Mr. Yanofsky
Intermediate News
The school was buzzing with excitement on Friday, Jan. 16th when Inkster School kicked off their first Positive School Climate activity which incorporated the Aboriginal Teachings. The students worked within their family groups and created flags of their animal clans.
The students did a fabulous job! The flags are wonderful!
Even though the temperature has been too cold for the students to go outside for recess for much of January, the students still had fun indoors. Some of the Grade 5 & 6 students practiced volleyball during lunch or after school and the Grade 3 & 4 students were able to participate in Skipping Intramurals held during the lunch hour.
Have a great month!
Sincerely, Intermediate Team (Ms. Ashton, Mr. Hawash, Mrs. Schultz, Mrs. Tayfel, Mrs. Zdrill)
Physical Education
During the month of February, primary classes will be doing some “scoop” and ball activities, as well as some track and field activities.
Intermediate PE classes will be doing track and field activities, as well as some handball activities. On February 8th, a guest from “Handball Manitoba” will be showing the morning PE classes some skills.
