Text Box: February brings some warmth with Valentine’s Day and lots of reading and writing with “I Love to Read Month!” This is going to be a fabulous month full of learning! We kicked off our I Love to Read month with an exciting performance of the stories of Robert Munsch by PTE. “Munschado About Nothing” was enjoyed by all!

Some of our “Catch the Reading Wave” theme activities will have students:
Reading and tallying the books they read
Sharing their favorite books during morning announcements
Participating in a weekly contest outside the library for N - 2, 3 - 4 and 5 -6 students.
Participating in a “Poetry and Art” noon hour club
Listening to stories read by many guest readers and staff. Thanks to those parents who have volunteered to read to a class! If you would like to join in the fun, please call the office at 589-4383 and let us know when you would be available to read to one of our classes.
Our “Catch the Reading Wave” finale will take place on Feb. 29th in the gym when we come dressed to read “in the sun” with our buddies and family groups

Inkster School will be hosting an evening for N – K parents and children on February 21st. The “Family Learning Olympics” will take place from 5:30 – 7:30 pm in our gym. The first 50 people registered will be able to attend. We look forward to seeing you there!!

A few other special dates to remember … Our PAC Meeting will take place on Monday, Feb. 4, 2008 as there was a conflict with the Feb. 5th date. We hope to see you there at 6:30 pm in the library. February 18th is the first Louis Riel Family Day holiday. Classes will be cancelled on this day. Classes will also be cancelled on February 22nd when teachers will be attending a professional development inservice.

Our grade 6 students are beginning to think about their transition to Junior high. They will soon be involved in presentations from our neighboring Junior High Schools. Wow! How the year is flying by!

I’d like to remind you of the importance of having your children dressed appropriately for the weather. They will continue to go outside for short recess periods in order to continue to stimulate their brains with fresh air and their bodies with physical activity. If the temperature and wind chill are below – 28 degrees Celsius, the students will stay inside.

CHILDREN COME FIRST!
THEY ARE OUR MOST VALUABLE RESOURCE!
