Text Box: Season’s greetings to one and all!

November was a busy month for the staff and students at Inkster School. The Inkster School staff did an outstanding job completing the assessment and evaluation of all of our students for the first term report card. The CAP Report Card template that was sent home with the report checklist and shared at the Parent-Student-Teacher Conferences was able to provide parents with a clear view of their child’s strengths and the next steps for programming. We hope that you found this helpful and informative.

It was wonderful to see so many parents and guardians at our Conferences!  It is great that you are so involved in the education of your child!  It is with your support and ongoing communication with the school that we can best meet the needs of all of our students.  Together we are able to create a better tomorrow!  Thanks to your support at our Book Fair, we were able to buy lots of new books for our library and book draws!  Thanks to Mrs. Tanchuk, Mrs. Grayden, Hayley, Mathew, David,   Brittany, Trisha, Caitlin and Jessica for their help in running the Book Fair!  You did a great job!  Thanks also goes out to Abby and Laura for their help in demonstrating our Smart Board in our computer lab.  Isn’t technology amazing?!

With the cold weather and flu season here, it is important that we remember to practice infection and germ prevention!  Our best defence from the flu is to limit the spread of the disease.  The best way to do this is to practice and teach our  children good hand washing and cough and sneeze etiquette. Refrain from coughing into the air and in others’ faces by covering your mouth with your sleeve and bent elbow.  Remember also to use a tissue when you have to sneeze and dispose of that tissue into a garbage bin.  Washing your hands immediately will help to prevent the spread of these germs.  Please remind your children of these preventative measures.  If your child is ill, please keep him / her at home.  Remember that If your child is well enough to attend school, he / she will be required to go outside for fresh air at recess and lunch time, so appropriate outdoor clothing is required.

Safety is of the utmost importance at Inkster School!  We must therefore remind parents, guardians and friends that the front of the school and staff parking lot are NOT to be used for parking.  Our “Stop, Drop and Go” signs have been a great reminder of our need to stop safely.  Thanks for your support in this    initiative.  As positive role models for our children we must also remember to walk to the corner and cross at the crosswalk.  It becomes a very dangerous place when parents encourage their children to run across Inkster Boulevard through the median to get to a parked car across the street.  Children are not allowed to cross the street at any place except at designated crosswalk and patrol crossing stations.  Please help us to keep our children safe!!

CHILDREN COME FIRST!
THEY ARE OUR MOST VALUABLE RESOURCE!

On that note, a great big thank-you goes out to our patrols and their teacher leaders, Ms Ashton and        Mr. Hawash, for the wonderful job they are doing to cross our students safely!  This is one of the most     responsible and trustworthy group of patrols!  Thank-you for your hard-working, responsible and positive attitudes!
