Inkster School Parent Council April 2008 News
Well, we have gotten through another long cold winter. We send our deepest thanks out to all of the Patrols who braved the cold each and every day. It is not an easy task. We also want to thank the “Extreme Team” of parents , EA's and teachers who went on patrol on those days where it was too cold to safely send our student patrols outside. This caring is what makes our school community great!
It has been very busy in March around the school. The students spent a whole day in the “Family Groupings” and participated in various Aboriginal games. Everybody seemed to really enjoy themselves.
April is going to be busy as well. We have many things happening in and around the school. We have 9 students who will be going to the Divisional Science Fair at Tec Voc this year. They will be there all day on April 11th and the morning on April12th. The awards will be handed out at noon on the 12th. We hope that you will find time to attend this event. There is a lot of hard work that has gone into these and the students need our support to show them that their hard work is important to us as well. It is all taking place at Tec Voc and admittance is free. We hope to see you there.
I also hope to see all of our parents out at the Parent Council Social being held at Sinclair Park on April 12th starting at 8:00PM. In the past, Parent Council has had a Bingo Bowl the year before camp to start raising funds to bring down the cost of camp for all of our grade 5 & 6 students and to put money in the coffers to help support various requests from the teachers for field trips and items and events that they feel will help our children's educational advancement. We have heard from parents that the Bingo Bowl was very hard to attend because it started so late at night. We have listened to that and have decided to hold a Social in our local community centre, Sinclair Park. This benefits Inkster School students and their families as well as Sinclair Park community centre. Tickets are $10.00 per person and are available from any Parent Council Executive member or by calling 586-6719. If you would like to volunteer some of your time to help out with this event, we would love to hear from you. Also, if you want to donate an item to our Silent Auction, we would greatly appreciate it. Call us and we will arrange to pick up the item from you. All of the funds that we raise, will go directly back to all of our students.
Parent Council will also show it’s appreciation of the Inkster School Staff, by having a Staff Appreciation lunch in April. We will be treating the staff to a special lunch to show our gratitude for all that they do for the children at our school!
Parent Council's April meeting will be held on April 8th at 6:30PM in Inkster School library. We hope that you will make it to this meeting. These meeting are important to attend because it allows you to have a voice in your child's school. These meetings are open to every single parent or guardian of children who attend our school. As always, free child care is available in Room 10. We hope to see you there!
