Text Box: Inkster School Lunch Program
April 2008 News

Well we made it through another long cold winter. There were days when we weren't sure that we would make it. We have to say a big thanks to all of the 'helper” students who worked with the grade 1 & 2's during all of those indoor days. They helped with the crafts, the games and the gym floor time. They made up new and exciting games and have been absolutely best buddies with our 1's & 2's.

We have brought back the “TABLE CAPTAINS”. I'm sure that some of your children have been telling you about the program. We choose 2 students from each table on the stage to be “Table Captains” for 2 weeks. They are responsible for reminding their fellow table mates to pick up their garbage and leave the table and floor free of garbage before they go out. They also dismiss their tables when it is all clean. The children can't wait to be table captains. They really enjoy stepping up to the plate to do their part. It also doesn't hurt that they earn “SUPERJOB TICKETS” in the process. These are good towards prizes and other cool stuff at our year end windup party.

April will see us having our JAR BAG. This is where you get to unload all of those toys you have around the house that you don't need (you know the ones they just had to have at McDonald's!) We then check them for safety, fix, clean them up and bag them. We create different sized bags and then sell them to the children for anywhere from 25 cents to $2.00. The kids absolutely love the jar bag. All of the money raised goes towards our year end party for the children. This is how we fund the prizes and food.

If you have toys that you want to get rid of, we will gladly take them off your hands. You can send them with your children or drop them off on the gym stage by April 11th. We will be having our JAR BAG on April 16th. If you have any questions, please contact our office.

Just one last reminder: the weather can still change in a few moments, please ensure that your child still is wearing the appropriate gear for being outside.

Until next month,

Physical Education

Spring is finally here! On the 23rd of this month, all grades 4-6 will be going to Assiniboine Park for “Jog in the Park”, eat our bagged lunches there, and then go to the Zoo for the afternoon.

In regular PE classes, primary students will be playing sponge polo and scooter activities. Intermediate students will be playing dodgeball games and softball lead up activities.
