Inkster School received a new computer lab this year. There are 20 networked PentiumII machines, each with a floppy drive, CD drive and access to internet via our Division router. The lab is also equipped with two servers, a laser printer, a colour inkjet printer and a scanner. We will be adding a digital camera shortly. The older 486 machines from the lab have been moved into classrooms.

Students are booked into the lab at least once each cycle with the Computer Lab Facilitor. They also receive additional computer time with their classroom teacher. Our goal is to provide all our students with the technology skills they will need in their future endeavors.

The computer lab program is structured on the Winnipeg School Division #1 Technology Skills Outcomes with the primary objective of integrating technology into all subject areas. We stress the development of thinking and problem solving skills, electronic resourcing using the internet and the World Book Multimedia Encyclopedia and publication skills including multimedia presentation. Students in grades 3 - 6 also work on developing keyboarding skills.
