The Resource Program is designed to assist students who are experiencing learning difficulties. Children who are referred to the Resource Teacher are assessed using methods such as testing, interviews, and classroom observation. After consultation with the classroom teacher, principal, and parents, further testing may be necessary through the Child Guidance Clinic (C.G.C.)

The Resource Teacher also consults and collaborates with teachers, parents, students, clinicians, and division program coordinators to design programs that will meet the needs of the children. Materials and ideas are often shared. Volunteers are trained and placed with students whenever appropriate. Instructional aide programs are developed and monitored by the Resource Teacher in consultation with the classroom teacher.

The Resource Teacher also coordinates the Early Identification Program, ESL, Summer School, C.G.C. Summer Service and referrals to special programs such as the Diagnostic Learning Centre. He/she also teams with teachers in classrooms to better address all the students needs.
