The main goals and objectives of the Primary Physical Education Programs:
- The development of physical well-being. This is achieved through
large muscle activities such as running, low organized games and gymnastics.
- The development of basic movement skills. These can be identified
as manipulatio, transport and balancing skills. Each skill is taught
progressing from a simple to a more complex movement. The skills are then
incorporated into a variety of games and activities.
- The development of positive social interactions through physical
activity. Cooperation, respect for self and others and peaceful
problem-solving are emphasized daily.
The Phys. Ed. program at the 4-6 level focuses on low organized games,
fitness activities, games involving specialized skills (softball, volleyball),
inter-school activities (soccer, volleyball, softball), and gymnastics.
Students should come dressed appropriately for Phys. Ed. with runners and light
and comfortable clothing. In addition to the instructional program, our school
offers students an opportunity to participate in a variety of intramural, club,
and interschool activities. These include benchball, floor hockey, basketball,
and the running club. We also offer gym activities for the children in the
evenings.
