Students in Grades 4 - 6 receive 30 minutes of French on a daily basis.
Communication is the goal of the Basic French program. the main focus is on oral
and listening skills and comprehension. Students are encouraged to speak French
during the lesson through various activities such as repetition, small
dialogues, games and reading aloud. Students also practice their reading and
writing skills through a variety a activities.
French culture is also part of our French program. It is integrated in French
lessons and also given primary attention during February's "Festival du
Voyageur" week. Other events take place later on in the year where the
teacher and students have the community exposed to a French setting.
Lastly, French performances have been part of our concerts and assemblies
throughout the school year.
