Gifted and talented programming at Inkster School is provided for
students identified as requiring special provisions beyond the regular
program in order to make their school experience more appropriate and
challenging.
Student are identified on the basis of behaviours indicating strengths
in one or more of the following categories: learning, motivational,
creativity and leadership characteristics. Identification is made as a
result of collaboration between the classroom, resource and special needs
teachers. The purpose of identification is to ensure that all children
capable of outstanding performance in school have been recognized.
Special programming is usually provided on a withdrawal basis during
regular class time. Parent are notified of their children's involvement.
