H.J.M. Believes in:
A Positive Learning Environment
The climate surrounding the educational enterprise is frequently the determining
factor in whether a student stays in school or drops out. Climate is the
feeling a student gets when sitting in the classroom, when meeting the principal
or other staff members each morning, or when leaving the school at the end
of the day. It is the emotion stimulated by interactions with teachers and
classmates.
Ultimately, it is the quality of the school environment that makes the curriculum the focus of the student's attention or detracts from it. At-risk students require the most positive learning climate a school can possibly maintain.
