Dear Adviser
by The Canadian Pie Adviser
Dear Adviser,
My boyfriends parents hate me! They are telling him to stop seeing me. They are also telling him that he is too young to date girls. He tells me that everything is going to work out, and that his parents will stop bothering us. Will they?
-Scared
Dear Scared,
You cant really do anything to make his parents like you. Its really your boyfriends parents hang-ups, not yours. You boyfriend can try to change his parents minds by letting them get to know you. But if that doesnt work, still keep dating (but make sure his parents know), and then try again later.
Dear Adviser,
My dad caught me and my boyfriend kissing. Now he doesnt trust us together. How can I fix things between us?
-Over Protected
Dear Over Protected,
Hes probably thinking what it was like to be your age, and how hormones are at top charge during that time. Fathers are naturally over protective of their daughters. Make sure that you talk to your father about how you feel and they you understand his perceptions, but there is nothing to be worried about because you are responsible and mature enough to handle things. Also tell him that your boyfriend is a nice guy and that he wouldnt hurt you (note: if this is not true, you shouldnt even be with your boyfriend), and tell you father that he should get to know him.
Dear Adviser,
Im having a big problem between me and my friend. We made out once and I told a few friends. He found out and now he never wants to see me or talk to me ever again. What can I do to fix things up?
-Blew It
Dear Blew It,
You shouldnt have told your friends without discussing it with him first. But its too late to do anything about it now. Maybe hes just confused about whats going to happen to your relationship, but whatever it is, hes obviously upset and needs time. So dont push for his forgiveness just yet. Give him a week at least. Then you could say sorry though a letter, a phone call, or just go up to him in the hallway at school. But before you begin to over analyze your relationship, make sure you have his forgiveness first.
