The Journey to Kappen By Tina Tran
On January 9, 2004 at 10:30 p.m, I got off the phone with the United Nations. They told me to gather my crew to go to a new planet named Kappen so we could find natural resources to save the Earth. In order to do that I will have to gather my crew members. They are Kim, Julius, and Kevin. After I got off the phone with Julius, I went to the kitchen and ate a cheese sandwich and it tasted foul because the cheese was mouldy... I thought about how the spaceship would look like in the inside when I was on the way to pick up the crew. When I was on my way to pick up Kim, something amazing happened. When Kim was at the door, she tried to open the door but it kept locking itself . When we were on our way to pick up Kevin the same thing happened. “There is something wrong with your car,” Kevin said. “Try unlocking it.” “It’s unlocked,” I said. Kevin opened the door. “Never mind. Let’s go pick up Julius,” Kevin said. When we arrived at Julius’s house, the door was unlocked and we walked in. We saw him packing his clothes. “I forgot to pack my stuff,” Kevin said. “Oh. I forgot to tell you. We don’t need to pack because they are going to provide the stuff for us,” I said. “Let’s get Julius. But we have to get there fast. We have to get there by 6:00 and it is 4:00 right now.” 2 hours later.....
While we were on the way to board the “Solar Express” Kevin just remembered that he forgot to pack. “We don’t need to pack because they are providing it for us,” I said. “Oh, ok. Look! There’s Julius.” Kevin said. “Run Julius! Run before I get the good seat!” “I’m here,” Julius said. “Time to buckle up,” launch control said. “Ten minutes till countdown.” “Let’s go inside,” I said. We walked into the spaceship. “Wow!!! This place is enormous.” “Time to strap yourselves in. “Time to start the countdown,” launch control said. “Five, four, three, two, one, lift-off…” On the journey to Kappen, we saw another spaceship heading back to Earth. “It must be another crew from NASA heading back to Earth to report information,” said Kevin. “While we wait let’s play Mesmerize.” “How do you play that?” I asked. “Simple. We take turns hypnotizing people with Kevin’s Hypno-beam,” Julius explained. “I’m first!” Kim yelled out. “I choose Kevin to be hypnotized!” Zap!!! “I want juice, Kevin!” Kevin went to the kitchen and got the juice. But when I asked him for more, he spilled his juice and slipped. After a few hours we went to bed and fell asleep after we were talking… When we arrived at Kappen, we saw chickens, ducks, and fish. Kevin looked into the crater and saw the fish swimming in the water. The ducks and chickens were floating above the ground. We had problems like for instance we couldn’t reach the ground and moving the ducks and chickens because they kept pecking us. After we’ve finished looking around, we went back to the ship to eat. We ate rice, soup, meat, and pizza for dinner and for desert we ate Kim’s home made cake, my rice-krispies, and some ice-creams. “How was the food?” Kim asked. “It was great! Especially the desert! The cake tasted heavenly!” Kevin replied. “Thank you,” Kim said. Then we went to bed , talked a little then we fell asleep a few minutes later… When we woke up Kim looked out the window and she saw a monkey looking into the window. Kevin woke up and saw the monkey at the window, too. We took turns brushing our teeth in the bathroom then we went down to the kitchen to eat breakfast at the table in the main level. We ate sausages, pancakes, eggs, toast and we drank juice and water. “You guys want to know something?” Julius asked us. “Okay,” we all replied. “I dreamed about hideous monkeys and apes taking over the world!” “So. I dreamed about a dead person named...” Kevin stopped as Kim put her hand over Kevin’s mouth. “Okay. Lets not talk about dead people because it is freaking me out!” Kim said. “Lets go outside and explore this planet.” When we got out of the spaceship we saw some aliens and we walked up to them. “Excuse me. Do you know where we can find the natural resources on this planet?” I asked. “Yes, we do. We have all the natural resources and we can give some to you for a price,” said the leader of the aliens. “Okay. What do we have to do?” “Help us build our shelter,” the aliens said. “Okay,” Kevin replied. 2 Hours Later... “We are finally finished!!!” Julius yelled. “Now can we have some of the natural resources?” “Okay. Here you go,” said the aliens. “We have to get back now. Bye!” I said. “Bye!” Kim, Kevin, and Julius yelled. “Bye,” replied the aliens..... When we arrived at the space station, we had no ride home. So, we called our relatives to ask them if they can pick us up. I called my auntie, Kim called her older cousin, Kevin called his mom, and Julius called his uncle. No one was able to give us a ride home but only Kevin’s mom was available to. So, we decided to ask her to drop us off at our homes and she said yes. After I got home I called Kevin to see if he wanted to go get some ice-cream at Gelati’s. “That is a brilliant idea!” he said. “Can you call Kim and Julius and ask them that?” I asked “Sure. Are we going today and what time?” “We are going today and we are going at 8 o’clock.” “Okay then. See you tonight. Bye!” Kevin said. “Bye!” I hung up the phone. 11 hours later… “Hey, you guys. Did Julius come yet?” Kim asked. “No. Not yet. But he is on his way here,” I replied. “Shoot! I forgot to make a letter to the United Nations.” “If Julius doesn’t come in 25 minutes then let’s go eat ice-cream without him,” Kevin said. 8 minutes later… “I’m here now!” Julius yelled. “Let’s go and get some ice-cream.” “I want strawberry ice-cream,” I said.
“I want
orange sherbet,” Julius and Kevin said. “I have to make a letter to the United Nations,” I said...
I wrote a letter to the United Nations and this is what it says:
Dear United Nations,
I have the natural resources. I can bring it to you if you want or you can come and pick it up. It was hard. But we tried to get as much as we can from the aliens that we met by helping them make their village. We had to build a lot of houses but it was worth it. If you have any questions, contact me at 718-9237. Yours truly, Tina, Kim, Julius, and Kevin
