Project Save the Earth 2005!
Students from Mr. Shiaro's class accepted a simulated mission to try to find a way to save life on Planet Earth. The purpose of this website is to share this simulation and the imaginative and thought provoking responses of our grade 6 students - as well as some great computer animation.
Problem: Scientists have calculated that in five years’ time, all our resources will have run out. War will eventually break out as nations will fight for what will be left. Natural disasters like drought, famine and diseases will make the situation worse. In short, we are living on a dying planet. We have only a short time to solve this world problem, or else we will face extinction.

The Facts: A planet has been discovered. It is Planet Kappen. Perhaps people could live there. Kappen and Earth are very similar. Here are some facts about Planet Kappen gathered by a giant computerized telescope. Kappen has oceans. They are full of protein-carrying marine life. We need to eat protein in order to live. Kappen has natural resources like forests, fuel, minerals and living things. Kappen has distinct seasons with cold climate for approximately half of an Earth year. It is reported that native inhabitants are living on Planet Kappen. They live very differently than we do.

Your Job: You were commanded by the leader of the United Nations to explore Planet Kappen as a last hope to save the Earth and the human race.
