Room 223 - First Nations Food Greetings, Anin, Boosho, Tansi! Our class welcomes you to our website. We did research on traditional native foods. We found out a lot about the buffalo hunt of the Plains Indians. The buffalo hunt and the buffalo were taken with the utmost respect for the animal's life. The Plains Indians were always aware of the sacred circle of life, and would offer prayers of thanks to the spirit of the buffalo for offering its life so others could live. Please click on our names below to see our drawings and read a little about what we have learned.
Every part of the buffalo was used. Click below to find out how: We also helped prepare and taste these traditional first nations foods: dried buffalo and dried strawberries, wild rice and different kinds of bannock. Click on our names again to read about our "Aboriginal Taste Test/Feast".
