The Taj Mahal was built in northern India. It was made of white marble and rests on a platform of red sandstone. It is 56.7 meters high. It is one of the most beautiful and expensive tombs in the world. Shah Jahan had it built for his wife, Mumtaz Mahal who died in 1629.
