This is an example of an Inuit scrimshaw engraving. It is made of carving ivory and filling it in with soot. It shows people hunting whales. This was the important to the Inuit because they need food from a whale and tools from the bones.
This is my engraving. I made it by folding paper and by drawing a seal, igloo, fish, and moon on it and by colouring the inside with different colours of crayon. I made it because the polar bear hunts seal and the Inuit people live in igloos and eat fish. by Xuan and Dennis |
