Inuit Art by Theressa
This is an example of an Inuit applique wall hanging by Jessie Oonark. It is made with felt, embroidery floss, thread, and cotton. It shows a figure in striped clothing. This was important to the Inuit because they needed clothing and some ulus to cut clothing.
This is my applique wall hanging. I made it with thread, a needle, fleece and felt. It shows a wolf and a lemming. I made it because the wolf eats the old and weak.
This is an example of an Inuit sculpture by Mosesie Kolola. It is made with stone and ivory. It shows an igloo, people, and a dog. This was important to the Inuit because they needed shelter.
This is my soapstone sculpture. I made it with a file and sand paper. It shows the king block from an igloo. I made it because I want a king block necklace.
This is my print. I made it by drawing a picture on a piece of paper, then rolling paint on it. Then it made a print. It shows a wolf. I made it because the Inuit needed fur.
This is my mask. I made it by carving clay. Then we put it in the kiln. Then I painted it. It shows a wolf. I made it because the Inuit needed fur. |
