This is an example of an Inuit sculpture of Sedna by A.S. Taleelayuk. It is made of stone. It shows a mermaid-part human and part fish. This was important to the Inuit because Sedna was the goddess of the sea and she gave them food from the sea like seals and fish.
This is my soapstone carving. I made it by carving soapstone with a file. Next I polished it with sandpaper and rubbed it on my hand. Then I put a string through the hole. It shows a seal. I made it because the seal gives the Inuit people food, clothing, tools, and fuel. by Candice |
