This is an example of an Inuit carving of an owl by Pootoogook Qiatsuk. It is made of carved stone and it was polished. It shows an owl. This was important to the Inuit because the owl was very important . Owls were often characters in their legends. The owl was the spirit that took care of the people and nature.
This is my soapstone carving . I made it by carving soapstone with a file and polishing it with sand paper and the oil from my hands and forehead. It shows an igloo with no king block. I made it because it feels very smooth and I'm going to use it like a lucky charm. by Malcolm |
