by Raymond and Jade

Igloo means home. Igloos are dome shaped because domes need less materials. Domes have lots of space, and domes are strong. Domes do not need inside walls to keep the roof up. Domes can be used a roof or whole buildings. A dome is an upside down bowl. Domes curve in all directions. First build a spiral then put hard packs of snow on top. Keep on until there are no room left. In an igloo there is only one room. It looks like a carpet and chairs . To build an Igloo it takes 2 to 3 hours. Igloos are warm. The Inuit people built it because it provided a strong foundation and kept the heat inside. Igloos are built in Nunavut . The Inuit people used tools and they are snow knives of wood ivory and a bow drill. The igloos were built in winter. And we don't build igloos today. They don't because we live in modern houses.
