Fast Fact about Igloos

By Karrina and Dylan and Corein

1. Igloo means house.

2. It is shaped like a dome. It was built like that because there is lots of space and it is strong. If wind and snow falls down it slips off. It is build with snow blocks. The material that is used to make an igloo is blocks of snow. The snow blocks are cut horizontally. They make a circle and put the snow blocks on top of the circle. The snow has to be hard to make an igloo. There is lots of room in an igloo. It looks white inside and it looks large and dark. It takes 2-3 hours to make an igloo. Inside an igloo it is warm because it is dome shaped. They built igloos in the Arctic and in the winter only. The tools they use to make an igloo are a snow measurer, a snow shovel and a snow knife. Igloos were built long ago. Yes they are used to this day, but not all the time. Inuit people don't live in igloos now. They have permanent homes just like ours.
