Arctic Habitat

The temperature doesn't get high in the summer and the Arctic is treeless. In the Arctic tundra soil is frozen 30 cm deep even in the summer. It's called permafrost. There are blizzards. I wouldn't go there because it's cold there. In the Arctic tundra there are very short summers. At the Arctic tundra everything is covered in snow more than half the year. Now that's interesting. At the Arctic tundra it's icy and the land is flat.

Appearance

Polar bears have white fur and sharp teeth. Polar bears have yellow, creamy fur. Polar bears have a big black nose.

Food

Polar bears eat meat like fish, seal, ringed seal, walrus or dead animals.

Enemies

Polar bears' enemies are people that hunt them.

Adaptations

Polar bears adaptations are thick fur to keep warm and sharp claws to get across the ice. They have black eyes and see well. That helps them hunt. They have sharp noses. They have a good sense of smell so they can find food. They have wide paws to help them swim.

Interesting Facts

Polar bears are very interesting because adult polar bears may measure more than 3 meters long. Although polar bears are really a land animal they spend a lot of time in the water. Polar bears weigh over 1,400 kilograms. They stand up for a better view. They can swim 95 km without resting. They can stay under water for 2 min. Polar bears sometime do not eat for weeks because they have big stomachs.
