Arctic Fox Arctic Habitat In the summer you can find flowers and grass. The soil is frozen 30 cm deep even in the summer. This is called permafrost. They have very short summers. The temperature does not get high in the summer. You can see polar bears, seals and walruses. The Arctic is cold and they have lots of blizzards. The Arctic is treeless except for some dwarf trees. There is Arctic tundra. You can find it in Canada, Alaska, Europe and Asia. The Arctic is covered by snow more than half the year. Appearance of the Arctic Fox The arctic fox has little round ears, little paws and short legs. The arctic fox has white fur in the winter and brown fur in the summer. The arctic fox has a black nose, sharp claws and a fluffy tail. The arctic fox is 92 cm. long, 31 cm. tall and weighs 6.8 kg. Food The arctic fox eats seal, arctic char, killed musk ox, lemmings, caribou, rodents, ptarmigan, bird eggs, animal remains, arctic hare, medow voles, arctic cod and ravens. Enemies The arctic foxes worst enemy is the human. Adaptations The arctic fox has thick warm fur, small ears, small legs and hairy foot pads to help keep it warm. The arctic fox changes color. This camoflouge helps it stay safe and helps it hunt. Interesting Facts The arctic fox will kill a seal pup and it hunts at night without making a sound.
