Polar Bear

Arctic Habitat

It's called the Arctic tundra because it is close to the north pole. The tundra is found in Canada, Alaska, Europe and Asia. Dwarf trees are found there. It's covered by snow more than half the year. The soil is frozen 30 cm. deep even in the summer. It's called permafrost. The temperature doesn't get high in the summer. They have very short summers.

Appearance

The polar bear has white fur, a black nose and black eyes. The polar bear has wide paws and the polar bear has a small tail. They can be 1 1/2 to 3 1/ 2 meters long.

Enemies

The polar bear's enemies are people.

Adaptations

The polar bear has a thick layer of fat because it keeps the polar bear warm. The polar bear can smell where their food is.

Interesting Facts

The polar bear can kill a seal with one blow from its powerful paws. The polar bear has webbed feet to help it swim.
