Arctic Wolf Arctic Habitat In the summer there are lots of flowers and grass. In the arctic the soil is frozen 30 cm deep. Even in the summer! This is called permafrost. The temperature doesn't get high in the summer. The arctic has very short summers. In the winter it is very, very cold. In the winter the arctic looks white. They have lots of blizzards in the winter. The arctic has only a few dwarf trees. The arctic can only be found in Canada, Alaska, Europe and Asia. It's called the arctic tundra because it's so close to the north pole. The arctic is covered by snow more than half the year. In the arctic you can see polar bears, seals, walruses and huskies. The arctic has lots of icebergs. The arctic is treeless, icy and flat. The water is very cold in the arctic. The sun always shines in the summer. Appearance of the Arctic Wolf The arctic wolf's fur is white in the winter and brown in the summer. It's covered with fur. It has a dark, black nose and very sharp claws. It has pointy ears and looks very fierce. It's covered with fur. It has very sharp teeth. Food The arctic wolf is a carnivore. That means it eats ptarmigans, lemmings, caribou, arctic hares, elk, deer, carcasses and anything else that has meat. Adaptations Arctic Wolves have thick fur to keep warm in the winter. Arctic wolves travel and live in packs to protect each other. Arctic Wolves have canine teeth (fangs) to kill their prey so they can eat them and survive longer. Enemies The Arctic Wolf has very few enemies like other wolves, polar bears and people. Interesting Facts People might not like wolves because they don't know much about them.
