Arctic Fox Habitat The soil is frozen 30 cm deep even in the summer. It's called permafrost . The temperature doesn't get high in the summer. The summers in the Arctic are very short . In the summer in the arctic they have grass and flowers. It's called the Arctic Tundra because it's close. There are dwarf trees in the Arctic. The Arctic is found in Canada, Alaska, Europe and Asia . It's covered in snow more than half of the year. Appearance of the Arctic Fox The arctic fox has white fur. It has a small nose on it's face. It's furry all over. It has short, small ears. The arctic fox has sharp claws. It has little paws near it's claws. It has rounded ears on it's head. The arctic fox is 92 cm long, 31 cm tall and weighs 6.8 kg. Enemies Their worst enemy is people. Hunters are their enemies, too. Adaptations The arctic fox has warm fur. It has a thick coat of fur because it keeps it warm.They have thick fur on their paws. They hide by camouflaging. It sheds it's white fur and grows gray and brown fur. Their fur is white in the winter and brown in the summer so their enemy can't spot them. Food It mostly lives on leftovers. They take food from polar bears. The arctic fox eat lemmings. They also eat seals. Interesting Facts The arctic fox kills new born seal pups. The mother gives birth to a few whelps. The arctic fox is a small animal. It has young in the summer.
