Preparation for Birth

-begins when the woman discovers her pregnancy.

-first see MD regularly

-must feel comfortable with MD

-mother usually wants to know who will deliver baby and who the alternative will be

-mother's have lots of questions ie. Will cesarean section or birth through a surgical incision in the mother's abdomen be necessary.

-parents should read reliable books and magazines and other informative literature on pregnancy and child birth

-must prepare a small space for the infant and purchas items required for the child ie. crib, layette, diapers, stroller/carriage

-in third trimester, need to pack a suitcase with clothes for you and the baby to come home in

- should make a list of emergency numbers for herself and her mate/coach

-should arrange transportation in advance
