1. home delivery with the
assistance of a certified nurse midwife ( a
registered nurse with training in labor and delivery) or a lay
midwife (a person with training in labor and delivery only) |

2. birthing center where they
try and maintain a family atmosphere. Labor
and delivery occur in the same "birthing room". Parents are
given ample time after delivery to bond with
infant |

NB. above births use medication or
surgical procudures minimally and problems arise when complications arise |

3. hospitals:
some hospitals now have "birthing rooms" and "rooming in
services" to help parents
-emergency services are readily available |
