Population
The United States has a very
dense population. In 1990 the
American population was 248,709,873. It has grown 9.8% since
1980. A surprising 54.3% of that population increase was in
California and Florida. The population of 1998 was 270,311,758.
Ethnic Groups
The United States has many ethnic groups. According to records
from 1990 the groups with the highest population in the U.S. are
the black African Americans, witch has a population of 30.5
million. The second highest population of an ethnic group is the
Hispanic origin whose population is 224 million. The Native
Americans, Inuit and Aleuts have a total population of 2.3 million.
The population of Asians and Pacific Islanders is 10.3 million.
Religion
The primarily religion in the U.S. is Christian. The biggest single
religious group is Roman Catholics. Roman Catholics make up a
quarter of the American population. Other large Protestant groups
in the U.S. include Baptists, Methodists, Lutherans, Preslyterians,
Pentecostals, and Episcopalians. The Judaisms and Islams are the
biggest non-Christian groups. All of these religions are spread out
the country.
