I chose Jennifer Robinson because I think she’s a good athlete, and I think she’s done very well in the Olympics. I also picked her because she’s a figure skater and I heard lots about her on T.V. That’s why I chose to research about Jennifer Robinson.

Highs and Lows
Jennifer Robinson has been competing in a lot of events since 1995. Jennifer Robinson
had placed a career best at the 2000 World championship in Nice, France. I think it was a
good result for a Canadian Ladies figure skater or at the World Championship or in the
Olympic Winter Games since Josee Chouinard won 5th place at the 1994 World
Championship in Chiba, Japan. However, Jennifer Robinson struggled at the 2001 2002
World Championships in front of a home crowd in Vancouver, Canada. Jennifer
Robinson finished in 15th place after touching the ice 3 times during her free skate.
Jennifer Robinson says that the problem was not in her hometown pressure, but the
pressure she put on herself to improve her ranking from her past year. Jennifer
Robinson’s country needed a skater that finished in the top 12 events to earn 2 spots for
the Saltlake games. There was still 1 spot that still needed to improve in Canada, which
did not have an athlete to compete in the ladies figure skating in Nagano.
Training and Music
In the 2001- 2002 season Jennifer Robinson had won 4 senior Canadian national titles,
including 3 in a row from 1999- 2001. Jennifer Robinson placed 10th at the World Junior
Championships in 1994. Jennifer Robinson's coaches are Michelle and Doug Leigh. They
help Jennifer Robinson train at the Mariposa School of Skating in Barrie, Canada. The
well known Takeshi Honda is also known for figure skating. Takeshi Honda is Japanese
and he also skates at the same rink as Jennifer Robinson does. Jennifer Robinson has a
girl named Lori Nichol who helps her on her moves and adds it to music. The person who
did Jennifer Robinson’s music for her year program was Alfred Newman. Jennifer
Robinson’s most difficult skill is a triple Salchow- trip loop combination, the second
element in her free skate.
Past and Future
Jennifer Robinson was hooked on figure skating at age 8 when she watched an Ice
Capades show. Jennifer signed up for lessons the next day. She wants to attended a
broadcast journalism school in Toronto after her career is over.
Things I Found Interesting About Jennifer Robinson
What I found interesting that she was hooked on figure skating at age 8. I started liking
figure skating at age 8 too, but I went into swimming instead. What I also found
interesting is that Jennifer Robinson is almost done her skating career.
