Jamie Sale And David Pelletier

Why I Chose to Research About David and Jamie

I chose to research about Jamie and David because I already knew a lot about them before because I had watched them compete in other competitions like Skate Canada and other big competitions like that. The first time I saw them skate Iwanted to learn more about them and I am glad I was able to!

Jamie Sale

Jamie Sale is 5’1’’in height. She was born in Red Deer, Alberta, on April 21, 1977,that makes her 24 turning 25 in a few months. She is now living in Edmonton, Alberta. She is a figure skater and her partner is David Pelletier.

David Pelletier

David Pelletier is 5’10’’ in height. He was born in Seabec, Quebec on Nov.22, 1974.That makes him 28 turning 29 in 9 months. He is now living in Edmonton, Alberta. He is a figure skater and his partner is Jamie Sale.

World Champions

Jamie Sale and David Pelletier were in third place after the short program at the2001 World Championships in Vancouver, Canada. They were in the same spot atthe 2000 Worlds in Nice, Japan. In Vancouver Jamie faltered in the free skate soDavid and Jamie ended up in fourth place, but in Nice, Jamie managed to maintainher poise and skate well. The performance was good enough to move them into goldmedal position over the 1998 Olympic silver medalists and two-time WorldChampions Ylena Berehznaya and Anton Sikharlidze of Russia. Jamie and Daviddid not have the smoothest preparations for the 2001 Worlds. In the week and half before the pair departed for Vancouver, Pelletier’s car was stolen and his house was damaged in a fire, leaving him temporarily homeless. Sale suffered a few setbacks herself; she burned her hand with coffee, so she couldn’t do practices for a few days. She also lost her lucky necklace that her former choreographer had given her.

Their Partnership History

Jamie is David’s 4th partner in his 14-year pair career. They started skatingtogether on March 10, 1998, but they jumped so quickly that Jamie ended up with tendinitis. They missed 2 and a half months of training after surgery to repair Jamie’s achilles tendon.

2002 Winter Olympic Games

On February 11, 2002 Jamie Sale and David Pelletier had a perfect performance. The skaters that skated before them, Elena Berehznaya and Anton Sikharlidze, had a very good but not perfect performance Anton fell after a jump, but they still got 1st! Jamie and David should have gotten 1st. On February 15, 2002 the ISU decided to award Sale and Pelletier a second gold medal to share with the Russians! I think that was a great decision!

What I Found Interesting About Jamie and David

I found a lot of things that were interesting about Jamie and David, like they were put together a few years ago but it didn’t workout so they weren’t put together because it wasn’t the right time. It was very interesting that they shared a gold medal with the Russians! There is a lot more interesting stuff about them but it would take too long.
