Do April Showers really bring on May flowers?

April is now upon us, we truly hope that all have spent a wonderful spring break. I am jealous, as many were overheard planning different trips for the week. I, for one, ended up doing home renovations! We may have "Bob the Builder" now working within our school!!! A piece of advice to all, do not ask M. Glaveen for any renovation idea’s…

Now that the weather is becoming more pleasant, we are seeing more of our children playing outside. That is a really refreshing sight. With this also comes the chance of more injuries, we hope to see the children wearing protective helmets when riding their bicycles and their skateboards. I remember seeing Tony Hawk wearing a skateboard helmet when he tested Winnipeg’s own skate park at the Forks last September.

April brings with it our kick off for Jump Rope For Heart. We will begin improving our skills for the upcoming date set for early May. More information regarding fund-raising will be made available shortly. It is our hope to overcome our fund raising efforts of last year.

April is also the month where we celebrate our annual Aboriginal Awareness Week. Many activities are being planned. Our students will be able to participate in a variety of workshops. They will also be entertained by the "Asham Stompers" and the "Eagle Drum Group and Singers". We are looking forward to all the great activities coming up.

I would like to congratulate all those who took part in the "Concour d'Art Oratoire" during the month of March. The students worked extremely hard at achieving their best. Congratulations to ToniAnne (303) and Alison (301) who did a great job at representing École George V at the divisional competition. I would also like to mention the hard work of Kayla (301) and Kwame (303) who also worked hard at their speeches. A special thank-you goes out to Madame Lacroix-Pouliot who helped out with this endeavour.
